About Rusty Frentner

Rusty Frentner grew up near Ypsilanti Michigan. Raised out in the country surrounded with woods, apple orchards, and farm fields, Rusty grew to love the outdoors and the wild things. He often went horseback riding to explore the area. He also spent hours  studying the plants, insects and aquatic life.

At a very young age Rusty got art supplies for Christmas and birthdays. He would spend hours sketching and painting the things that he loved. Horses were among his favorite subjects. Then as he got older, he would do drawings of the pretty gals at school!

Today, Rusty paints a lot of birds and animals and flowers that have a special place in his heart. Rusty believes in keeping it wild!!!!

I have always been in awe of red tailed hawks! They have fascinated me ever since I was a young kid. I have painted them a number of times, and this is my latest red tail painting.

Early last spring, we where out painting on location and there were about a dozen painters painting away. A sandhill crane was walking around us and feeding while his mate was setting on her nest. I grabbed my camera and took a bunch of photos and soon after did a studio painting of this big guy!

We were heading to our favorite metro park to paint on location. I spotted the white doe along the game trails. My sis stopped the car so that I could snap some quick photos of her! We had watched her grow up over the last year.
