Mind and Passion

$7000

Bronze

17 1/2″ x 26 1/2″ x 6″

Ravens have had a mystical role in many cultures, from Native Americans to the Nordic Vikings, where our main god Odin had two ravens –
HUGIN and MUNIN = MIND and PASSION, as his spies and messengers.
As a young man in Sweden I raised an orphan raven that kept me company for several years. Coming to this country I was fascinated to find that many Native American tribes also had a close relationship with ravens.
To this day I am still enamored by the raven’s intelligence and cunning personality.

Call to The Dance

$3000

Bronze

5 3/4″ x 16″ x 8″

In spring time, at sunrise, male Prairie Chickens gather to perform an ancient mating dance, accompanied by booming sounds from their vocal sacks along their neck “calling to the dance”. These avian rituals inspired several tribes of American Natives who shared these remarkable birds’ land, to imitate their dance, no doubt upon observing the hens’ enthusiastic response.  To this day, the performance of these dances remains a revered and popular tradition.
