The beauty of the natural world has always been my inspiration and creatures both domestic and wild, as well as people,
fascinate me. The spirit and gesture of the subject and the feeling of implied movement are my goals. Travel and adventure allow me to study a wide array of creatures and they appear in bronze or stone, in sizes ranging from small to monumental. I enjoy finding new ways to express the spirit and form of the subject. Working with collectors on commissions has been a joyful experience.

I was struck by the alertness and intense focus of the eagle as I worked on the clay model of the head. The powerful talons and beak were striking, and his potential impressive, made more so in bronze.

The reefs in the tropical areas that fascinated James Audubon teem with wondrous creatures, each with a personality and unique shape. Living offshore here in Vero Beach, and in the Bahamas, studying the movements and habits is a delight. The curious butterflyfish is one of the most striking shapes and colors, and when carved in stone, seemed right at home with the stone starfish. Both are now in bronze, an edition of 12. I hope they bring a smile!

The Atlantic Spotted Dolphins played in the bow waves of our sloop as we crossed the Bahama Banks, much to the delight of our small children. Perhaps they knew how appreciated they were, for the dolphins stayed for almost half an hour as we sailed, the children on the bow pulpit happily munching their conch fritters.

The swallowtails have fascinated us for years as they soar over the ponds in Florida, finally found a way to trans late the elegance and pure form into bronze that also soared.the light cloud like patina seemed to help lift them skyward.

The Loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings dash down the beach in front of our house in the Archie Carr Refuge. This twenty mile stretch of Atlantic beach is the nesting ground for the largest number of sea turtles in the world. Greens, Loggerheads, Leatherbacks, and occasional Kemps Ridleys all nest here, generally between late May to September. One summer we saw all Green, Loggerhead and Leatherback nests hatch, and I had to sculpt them! Only one in a thousand survive to maturity, and they circle the oceans in the currents for years before the females return to lay their eggs where they hatched.
What an amazing journey!
